Water leakage from water flossers (also called oral irrigator, dental flosser is a common problem. You can take corresponding solutions according to the location and cause of the leakage:
Confirm the location of the leakage
1. Water tank leakage
Check whether the water tank is cracked or aged.
Check whether the silicone ring at the connection between the water tank and the host is aged, fallen off or misaligned.
Solution:
The silicone ring can be reinstalled or replaced.
If the water tank is cracked, you need to replace the water tank, and some brands can be purchased separately.
2. Water leakage at the nozzle connection
It may be that the nozzle is not plugged in tightly or plugged in reverse.
The sealing ring (O-ring) of the nozzle is damaged.
Solution:
Pull out the nozzle and plug it in tightly again.
Check the sealing ring of the nozzle interface. If it is aged, it is recommended to replace it.
3. Water leakage at the bottom of the waterpik
It may be that the internal water pump or pipeline is aged or cracked.
It is usually a problem that cannot be repaired by yourself.
Solution:
If it is within the warranty period, it is recommended to contact after-sales of water flosser factory.
If the warranty has expired and the repair cost is high, you can consider replacing the device.
4. Water splashes everywhere from the outlet during use
The water pressure is too high, and the water cannot be sprayed into the gaps between teeth, so it splashes everywhere.
The nozzle is not in the right direction.
Solution:
Try lowering the gear.
Change the angle to ensure that the nozzle is aimed at the gaps between teeth.
Maintenance suggestions to avoid leakage again
Empty the water tank after use to prevent water accumulation and scale.
Clean the water tank and nozzle regularly (you can use white vinegar or citric acid solution to dilute and clean).
Do not use hot water (over 40°C) to fill the water tank to prevent plastic deformation.
Do not drop or press the water flosser, which can easily cause damage to the internal structure.
Does it need to be replaced?
If the leakage is serious, especially at the bottom or inside of the dental flosser, and it is not under warranty, it is usually more cost-effective to replace it.
Some brands such as Panasonic, Philips, Waterpik, Xiaomi, and Bayer have spare parts channels or after-sales repair support. You can contact the official customer service first to find out whether it can be repaired.
